Convicted By Covenants

Psalms 25:14 The secret [of the sweet, satisfying companionship] of the Lord have they who fear (revere and worship) Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its [deep, inner] meaning.

Just last week, my wallet balance was screaming at me! What do we usually do in such times? We tend to retract our giving hands. I had made up my mind not to carry anything as I went for a certain meeting, which was required of us to carry a drink or snack whenever we met!

I’ll tell them I’m broke-ish… I spoke to myself. Then I don’t know who replied me, I don’t know whether it was a man or a spirit…but I heard it clearly say…

Really? O Really… With the blessing that states you have inherited the earth, you’ve refused to spend some shillings? Really? When you’ve been given all things that pertain to life & godliness? What Abraham received is yours, and if ye are Christ’s then you are his seed too…That makes you a co-heir with Christ and as He is (now) so are you!

These were a compilation of many verses. By the time the conviction was done, I had withdrawn the remaining balance on my mobile money account and found myself carrying a package of hot tasty chapattis to the meeting!

A time comes in a Christian’s life, when instead of begging the Covenant of Wealth to come to your rescue, it instead convicts you to keep giving… A time comes when whatsoever was spoken of you has to come to pass even without you lifting up a finger to do anything.

A time comes when you can’t avoid giving. A time comes when you can’t avoid being generous. That’s because you have been dealt with bountifully! That’ll lead you to overflow and all those around won’t fail to notice it. At home everyone runs to me for data or minutes. They stopped asking whether I have or not. They have a surety that anytime they need any of those, or just mere change, or emergency cash… I do have it!

That’s the Covenant of Blessing as God said in Genesis 12:2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others].

The Covenant of Peace the other day came to my rescue. I heard someone speak trash about me. God’s peace (that the world can’t give) enveloped me. His Covenant of Love came running and told me Don’t even try to prove yourself innocent. No weapon formed against you shall prosper. And I condemn that tongue that rose against you in judgement.

The word ‘convict’ means to find guilty. The Covenant of Wealth made me feel guilty for not doing something I was supposed to do! And I think that’s a good thing! We claim these awesome scriptures… We claim that we are the biggest givers, but even in low times, that is not exclusive to us.

Do you find yourself giving when you think you’re broke? That’s The Covenant of Wealth working in you!

Our theme scripture states that God will reveal His covenant to them and show them its deep meaning! I learnt that just how Job said shall I only praise God in the good times…we too must know that in bad times, the Covenants still apply!

They are wrapped up in goodness and mercy which follows you all the days of your life! In the bad times, the Covenant of Love you have with God will comfort you. That of Peace will guard your heart & mind. The Covenant of Joy shows up and brightens your day.

I have discovered that when we try to disregard these, since they follow you all the days of your life, the Holy Spirit will aid them and convict you, saying Hey child, do not forsake the Covenants you have with God!

I tried to run away from the Covenant of Wealth, but it came back for me when I tried to go to a different town, swallowed me up like the fish that swallowed Jonah, and spit me up in the direction I was meant to go…which was generosity.

David understood the Covenant he had with God in its true depth. He discovered it when he killed a bear that tried to feed on his father’s sheep. It convicted him when a lion came up. And now he was so sure of it, that he knew it always went ahead of him giving him the ability to face anything, and still come out victorious…and nothing could defeat him not even Goliath!

First you’ll discover the Covenants. Then they’ll convict you during trials, and finally, you’ll understand that you can’t run away from them, for they are God’s and you can’t hide from Him!
