2 Kings 4 has an amazing story for all sons & daughters of God! A widow had been previously in a relationship with a son of a prophet. But he was gone and he’d left quite a big debt behind which was equivalent to selling in her sons as slaves!
2 Kings 4:1 A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.“
What we learn from verse 1 is Never be so broke to a point that a soul has to be taken as collateral! Or never to let your lender call the shots by determining what he wants in return!
Like Esau sold his birth rite for a morsel, do not sell yourself or your child over some amount of cash! Why? You’re priceless! They’re priceless! Imagine one of the sons lived in our times and he ended up starting a thing as such as Apple, or Facebook!
If the creditor took them as collateral, he’d have had control over them as they were his slaves, he’d have benefited lots more. We are not sure what age the boys were, but he’d have made them forget all about their mother if this version became true!
2 Kings 4:2 So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.”
Elisha asked the widow what she had! She said oil! And so he goes on to start the miracle! God asked Moses what he had! He had a staff. Jesus asked the disciples what was in their possession. The boy brought his fish & bread!
It never was about what they never had! But what they had! It hit me the other day that I had so much. This could be talents, or possessions! You do not need anything else. You do not need anything from the without!
You have all you need within you to start earning something! That’s your oil, your staff, your fish & bread and as we’ve seen, that’s when God steps in with supernatural abundant multiplication!
2 Kings 4:3 Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few.
The miracle comes with lots of multiplication! Elisha was intentional to say do not gather a few! Men or Companies with largest income earnings have multiple locations! They never gather a few… They reproduce themselves in multiple places across the world… Whether they believe in the bible or not, the principle works for them as well!
One vessel (One job) just won’t do! One location will not… Choose to multiply your brand!
My pastor, Moses Mukisa loves this joke; ‘…the reason why heaven’s streets are made of gold is because God’s trying to send the gold to us.’
Yes God’s supply is endless! So what’s really happening; Unlimited supply, Limited vessels!
2 Kings 4:6 Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “[There is] not another vessel.” So the oil ceased.
The oil’s increase only stopped when the jars that had been borrowed ran out! What does this teach us? The oil is golden! And gold is an internationally recognized currency… The increase of our wealth is partly limited by the vessels we present to God!
There’s way much more wealth awaiting you if you’d only stopped depending on your one job for a living! List down your passions and chase them! Start today! Do something with what you have;
Start dance classes, teach piano lessons, start a gardening company, get paid for baby sitting, get paid for shopping for others, stop talking for free at ceremonies, discover your value, continue building your skill, do a short course about your other passion…
Use that idle car as a taxi, get paid for being on social media, work with a friend, start that fashion shop, write that book, record that song, make that liquid soap, learn how to–and bake cakes, be a life coach, venture into photography…
Buy a motorcycle, employ a man, Invest in rolex guys, learn more and charge for talking about it, teach others what you know… All these are potential vessels… All of them potential jobs. It’s all in you, All this time!
It’s said that Donald Trump is involved in over 500 business internationally! That sounds like plenty of vessels to keep his oil going! Again I’ll ask ‘What are you passionate about?’ ‘What do you have?’
Write it down and ACT on it!
God’s been waiting to unleash wealth your way, but you were too proud, thinking your job was enough! Create for Him multiple income streams… And what happened to the widow’s oil will happen to your wealth;
Increase…
2 Kings 4:7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you [and] your sons live on the rest.”
Your finances will explode! Your debts will be cancelled! Your rent will be cleared! You could clear your neighbor’s too! And you’ll still have what to live on!
And may God help you and also see to it that you feel restless, until you reach your full potential, having created vast income streams!
Remember….
And he said to her, “[There is] not another vessel.” So the oil ceased.
