Are you doing what you’re supposed to be doing?

I was dodging to write my 6th book. I was feeling bored. I wasn’t concentrating and so I abandoned my task. I ran through my playlist and my favorite name appeared.

I’m obsessed with Cece Winans… but in a good way! I met her 9 years ago. At school her famous single Waging war was allover the place! Then, in the choir we sang this song, but I never quite understood the writer behind as the only audio of it I had was the one the choir sang!

Well, I went on to discover more of her songs! One by one…Here and there. Last year I received all her music in one package! From her albums with elder brother Bebe…from 1985 to date in her solo career!

Wikipedia & Google have named her the best selling female artist with 12 Grammy awards, 23 Dove awards and 15 Stellar awards! These are respectively the most prestigious international awards both in the secular world and the Christian one respectively!

Her songs being stuck on my replay, and the history not lying….I asked God what was special about her….(except the anointing!)

“Well,” God answered me, “…She’s doing what she’s supposed to be doing! She never pursued something other than what I designed her to be! The fame, the titles, the awards, are all my rewards for her acceptance of what I invited her to be!”

I froze! I was in wow-mode… Goosebumps allover… And of course we all want to be like the people we look up to. And as though God had read my mind, He continued..

“You want to be like her, right?”

I nodded enthusiastically! He asked again,

“Are you doing what you are supposed to be doing?”

My head dropped as I looked at the book I was supposedly to be writing!

God giggled as He added…

“The Kirk Franklins, the Tyler Perrys, and all those people you admire, did what they were supposed to do and their greatness is their reward from me! Go on then do what you know you are supposed to do! Write that song, write that book, pray without ceasing, preach the gospel, etc!”

To you who’s aspiring to change the world, I throw the same question at you, are you doing what you are supposed to be doing?

And it’s not just a question of doing whatever…. No! This is about you doing what God designed you to do! Purpose! If you’re not sure yet, go back to Him and let Him reveal it to you!

If you know what you’re supposed to do, do it with all your heart, as if unto the Lord. I know mine is concerned about the arts…and music, but is yours in the technology industry or politics? Is it educational or concerning the environment?

Go Do it! Fear not for He’s with you!

The Rewards await!
