Yes there is a literal meaning of Heroes… But let’s not get cinematic here. There’s no Captain America in actual life! There’s no Superman or man of steel! There’s no Spiderman if I was MJ…
These heroes never come out of the screen! They never hear our cry of help! Another kind of group does here us nevertheless. They never wear capes! They never wear masks! They are dark skinned and made in God’s image!
Our Pastors & other leaders are The Heroes! Having to brave themselves & stand under eye-blinding sunlight just to take selfies with their disciples!

They pray for us and ensure that we are led to greener pastures! They awake at 3am and mention us in their prayers! They take us in as their sons and daughters along with their biological children!
They travel to countries far and wide just to come back and tell us There’s a big world out there and that we should expand our visions and increase the bigness and vastness of our dreams! O how I honor them! Those are The Heroes!

Our parents… Who live selflessly to ensure we reach the highest levels of education… They forsake expensive ornaments, and things they can try to do without so that when we leave secondary we can get to University… And not just any University…But the best there is!
They weigh the odds and deny themselves opportunities to find another man but to trust that God is their husband now and that He’ll take in & take care of their former husband’s children until they’ll bring them grand children!
Those are the Heroes!

Family who run to you, and whom you run to! They became siblings in the Long run! They are a pillow you fall back to when the world seems to be spinning so fast! They push you to be that anointed leader!
They keep you humble despite the fact that you are their leader! They are your traffic lights when you’re going beyond 180kph! They tell you what’s worth it and what’s not! You learn from them and they learn from you!
Those are the Heroes!

Crazy classmates! The ones with whom you are late for class with! The gangmates who call you to remind you on which day the assignment is due! The ones who have a course unit class abroad and they haven’t a clue where they’ll crash!
The ones who challenge you to dare for more! The ones who climb the fences with you and keep you in line lest you break the school rules! The ones who are brave enough to avoid suspensions and expulsions from the Headmaster and Headmistress…
Those are they!

Friends who laugh at all your jokes even when they are not so funny! Friends who experiment on what’s in the future of your life’s journey! They lend to you heavy currencies… And they are too rich to remember that you owe them and somehow you get away with it—An expensive meal you enjoyed that you didn’t contribute even a single penny towards!
They bring up the topics during dinner at the fireplace—the dark secrets you’re scared to talk about, and the themes of life you never want to indulge in…and amidst the conversation, bravery arises and calm ensues!
You do maalo with them and it’s okay! You go window shopping with them until you drop! You ride around in shopping trolleys with them and take photos that look like dangerous Netflix series covers!
Those are those Heroes

Those are the Heroes!

And God…Who died for me by his son when the story got a plot twist! Who sings to me in the night and kisses me every morning! He who stays when the world vanishes, and makes me the pillar I am!
He who teaches me things no teacher in school has ever taught me! He who gives me a sure word to whoever is in need! He who makes me enough and handsome!
With whom I can do the Impossible…and freezes time so that we can talk out of an atmosphere called hurry…
He is The Hero. And though He comes last here, He comes first everywhere else!
I’m here to say, Happy Heroes day to all of these…
O how I love thee!
