It’s astonishing that I’ve just discovered this! Colgate has lasted for generations! The man reverse tithed! Instead of 10% only, He gave 20, 30, 40 and more and more!
In my musings I felt like one of us who became among the richest men had a reason better to his vast volumes of wealth other than just working hard!
I guess it was God telling me to dig deeper in his tale! I came across this article;
”Rockefeller was a devotedly religious man and one of America’s greatest philanthropists.
Regarding his Christian faith, Rockefeller would read the Bible daily, attend prayer meetings twice a week and even led his own Bible study with his wife. He tithed, rested on the Sabbath and gave away much of his money to charity. Burton Folsom Jr. has noted, “he sometimes gave tens of thousands of dollars to Christian groups, while, at the same time, he was trying to borrow over a million dollar to expand his business.” Additionally, Rockefeller took time to spend with his family, something that confused many businessmen.
Rockefeller’s philanthropy was extensive. As his own personal fortune grew, so did the amount of money he gave to good causes. By the time he was 45 years old, he had given away $100,000 per year. At 53, he hit $1,000,000 per year, and at 80 he gave away $138,000,000. In total, historians estimate that he gave away $550,000,000 which is more than any other American before him.
His philosophy of giving was founded upon biblical principles. He truly believed in the biblical principle found in Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
With Rockefeller’s philanthropy, people were able to build schools, churches and hospitals. He was able to support missionaries and was able to bring the message of Christianity the whole world. His support led to privately funded teams of scientists who found cures for yellow fever, meningitis and hookworm. His giving also led to vast improvements in education for many. He gave tens of millions to the University of Chicago, black schools, Southern schools and Baptist schools. Yet, not all the schools continually received money; improved results were a requirement. This was based upon Rockefeller’s interpretation of the parable of the talents and the Apostle Paul’s writing that, “if any would not work, neither should he eat.”
As he neared the end of his life, Rockefeller learned how to enjoy the small things in life. He learned how to tango, hired a caddy to help with his golf swing and spent more time with his family—especially his grandkids. He would also watch people who passed his house and gave dimes to children telling them to work and to save.
Rockefeller serves as a great example of what it means to be a good steward of what God has given us. He also is a reminder to abide by those seemingly counterintuitive instructions to rest on the Sabbath and to give so that we might have more.”
My oh my the guy gave over 500,000,000 US Dollars! His networth was 300,000,000,000 US Dollars! The richest today is around 100,000,000,000 Dollars!
Details are clear: It doesn’t say he prayed for 7 hours for wealth or asking God for wealth! He Simply stood on GOD’S WORD!(..Give and it shall be given back unto you, multiplied, pressed down, shaken together and running over…)
Him being the wealthiest, in these late centuries, I believe he held with much regard God’s word concerning wealth! And surely if He did, so can you! So can I!
It’s hard to be rich by works! Many of the wealthiest men have a covenant with God unbeknownst to them! Some of them have Jewish blood! Making them connected to Great Abraham and a blessing of God that was bestowed upon them follows them by blood!
In Rom 4:13 and Gal 3:29, we discover that we too can be connected to Abraham’s lineage BY FAITH IN CHRIST! If you believe in Jesus, you get grafted into God’s Family, and Jesus was a descendant of Abraham! Thus, the blessing comes to you!
The blessing is that YOU ARE THE HEIR OF THE WORLD. Now after knowing that, we need to know all principles God talks about wealth! He says ‘Wealth and Riches are in the house if the righteous.’ Psa 112:3!
The blessing won’t work if you’re ignorant of God’s Word concerning it!
So Get on with it! In Psalms God says He HAS EXALTED HIS WORD ABOVE HIS NAME! Believe that you’re RICH! That YOU POSSESS HEAVEN AND EARTH (Gen 14:19)
Recognise the BLESSING! Know what THE BLESSING CONSISTS of God’s word! Practice the PRINCIPLES of wealth STILL in God’s Word! Then finally watch and see…
For, the Kingdom of God is like a seed! The seed is the word and the soil is your heart! Be patient as the seed grows! Its full coming out of the ground will mean THE WEALTH will MANIFEST in THE PHYSICAL REALM! And what Rockefeller experienced you too shall!….Even MORE!
But lastly… As I shed more light on this… You can never be so so so rich by your own works alone! GOD has to be involved! For He HOLDS all Gold and Universes!
So the TRUE wealthy are wealthy when they REALISE, that their wealth is as a result of STEWARDSHIP of God’s WEALTH!
The blessing of your Inheritance or HEIRNESS is this….That;
GOD WANTS TO SHARE HIS WEALTH THROUGH YOU!
